There's definitely something in the water in Hertfordshire. Following in Gallows' carnage strewn wake there's an army of punk rock foot soldiers taking up arms, with Immoral leading the charge. While a cursory glance at the many music publications in circulation may lead you to believe that indie pop is the undisputed sound of the suburbs, clearly no-one has told the three chord and truth brigade in Watford.
Immoral channel classic early '90s punk and a firm societal conscience with tracks such as 'Out Of Our Hands' and 'Brothers In Arms' recalling Bad Religion's politicised rage and Pennywise's blistering sonic assault while others veer towards hardcore in the vein of Black Flag and Dead Kennedys. Guitarist Andy Beedom's harmonised guitar solos give the band an extra edge over their peers, influenced by great axe heroes of the '80s and rounding off Immoral's multi-faceted attack.
With a second album 'Speak, Or They Will Speak For You' nearing release, and high profile support slots for Anti-Nowhere League, Sham 69 and Gallows already in the bag, Immoral look set to take their positive and powerful message to the masses. As the band say themselves, "It's about having a message that will make a difference and doing whatever it takes to get it heard, anyone that's willing to fight for what they believe in just to try and make even the slightest bit of difference is a punk. It doesn't matter what your guitars sound like or what you look like, it's why your doing it and what you want to achieve that has the impact.".
'Speak, Or They Will Speak For You' is released soon, visit www.myspace/immoral for details.
